Israel announced on Friday that it is preparing to send humanitarian aid to Suwayda following clashes in the predominantly Druze province.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated, “In light of the recent attacks targeting the Druze community in Suwayda and the difficult humanitarian situation in the area, Foreign Minister Gidon Saar has ordered urgent humanitarian assistance to be delivered to the Druze population in the region.”
The ministry clarified that the aid will be valued at two million shekels (around $600,000) and will include food supplies and medical provisions.
Israel has committed to protecting the Druze in the area from any assaults, bolstered by calls from the Druze minority residing within Israel.
In response, Syrian Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour El-Din Al-Baba refuted claims that Syrian security forces are preparing to redeploy in the city of Suwayda to quell clashes between tribal forces and local factions.
The Syrian Interior Ministry confirmed that security forces are maintaining a standard state of readiness without any movement or deployment in Suwayda province.
Earlier, Syrian television reported on Friday that convoys of internal security forces were present on the outskirts of Suwayda, preparing to act as peacekeeping forces between tribal factions and local groups.
It was noted that internal security forces had not yet moved toward the conflict points in the city of Suwayda, amidst heavy clashes occurring at the city’s borders between tribal forces and local factions.
Additionally, Syrian television highlighted that tribal forces were situated approximately three kilometers from Suwayda, indicating significant reinforcements of tribal forces in the village of Al-Mazra’a in the Suwayda countryside.
