Accor, a prominent name in the global hospitality industry, has declared the signing of the Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah. This exceptional luxury hotel is set to become the largest Sofitel establishment worldwide. Built in collaboration with the Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC), the hotel is slated to open its doors in 2026, representing a significant advancement in the Kingdom’s expanding luxury tourism sector.
Situated within the Jabal Omar master plan, just a short distance from the Holy Mosque, the Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah will host 1,141 rooms and suites across two towers — Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah North and Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah South — providing stunning views of the Haram and the skyline of Makkah.
Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, remarked, “It is a privilege to bring Sofitel to Makkah, a city of great spiritual and cultural significance. Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah will symbolize hospitality, tranquility, and unity — a venue where our French vibrancy fuses with Saudi authenticity. This remarkable initiative embodies our goal to bridge cultures through luxurious hospitality in one of the most revered locations globally.”
Fusing French elegance with Saudi traditions, the hotel will boast six unique dining options, including sophisticated all-day eateries, a signature fine-dining experience that combines French and Middle Eastern cuisines, and cozy lounges for relaxation and socializing. Guests will also benefit from a Club Millésime executive lounge, fitness facilities, and exclusive wellness offerings influenced by local customs and created by Saudi craftspeople.
This venture highlights Accor’s partnership with Jabal Omar Development Company, a leading public real estate firm in the Middle East, instrumental in the urban evolution of Makkah. JODC’s masterplan includes hospitality, retail, and residential components to bolster the city’s spiritual and economic development.
Jean-Baptiste Recher, chief development officer for luxury brands in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye, stated, “Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah is a pivotal milestone for Accor within the Middle East luxury arena. The hotel showcases our dedication to establishing top-tier properties that blend local culture with French opulence, providing guests with an unmatched experience in the heart of Makkah.”
Xavier Grange, chief development officer for Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery & Emblems, added, “The Jabal Omar project marks a foundational element of Makkah’s urban progression, solidifying Accor’s dominance in the luxury sector of the Kingdom and aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The establishment of the largest Sofitel globally in Makkah exemplifies our intention to enhance the brand’s footprint through significant projects in essential markets, showcasing the essence of French luxury hospitality on an international level. Sofitel’s established capability in managing large hotels guarantees exceptional guest experiences at any scale.”
With its grand scale, innovative design, and close proximity to the Holy Mosque, Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah underscores Accor’s long-term dedication to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 — enhancing the Kingdom’s status as a premier global tourism hub while honoring cultural connections through luxury hospitality.
