Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has established a long-term collaboration with Fortinet, a leading global entity in cybersecurity, network solutions, and firewalls, as part of its initiative to protect digital resources and improve smart infrastructure.
The contract was finalized during the 27th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), which DEWA hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre from September 30 to October 2, 2025. The signing ceremony took place with the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, alongside other high-ranking officials. Hussain Lootah, executive vice president of Transmission Power at DEWA, and Joe Sarno, executive vice president of International Sales at Fortinet, represented both organizations in formalizing the agreement.
Dedication to Cyber Resilience
“We uphold the highest standards and best global practices in cybersecurity to safeguard our digital resources and smart infrastructure, ensuring the provision of our services with utmost efficiency, reliability, and quality. We partner with leading international firms to stay aligned with the latest technologies in protecting smart grids and city infrastructure, while actively managing any risks that may pose a threat to information security. The partnership with Fortinet aligns with our ongoing collaboration in various cybersecurity domains, keeping pace with DEWA’s digital transformation and the integration of cutting-edge technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart networks, to guarantee top-tier security and preparedness,” stated Al Tayer.
Joe Sarno remarked, “DEWA is an innovative organization that wholeheartedly embraces digital transformation, acknowledging the vast opportunities presented by cloud computing, AI, and IoT. At the same time, it remains aware of the escalating security challenges that accompany the expansion of attack surfaces. Fortinet is privileged to engage with DEWA on cybersecurity and digital transformation matters concerning DEWA’s crucial operational and IT frameworks, aiming to provide a safe and secure environment for the flourishing of Dubai’s residents.”
Strengthening Digital Security with Advanced AI
This alliance will enable DEWA to deploy the Fortinet Security Fabric system, which delivers integrated protection across IT, operational technologies, private cloud, and IoT settings while embracing a Zero Trust security model for secure access and proactive threat prevention.
Furthermore, Fortinet’s AI-driven FortiGuard services will enhance DEWA’s Information Security Centre capabilities by facilitating real-time threat detection and response. This will assist in mitigating risks, lowering operational vulnerabilities, and improving efficiency across DEWA’s smart networks and services.
