DP World has significantly enhanced its automotive logistics capabilities at Jebel Ali Port by inaugurating a new 2.6 million square foot vehicle storage area in Terminal 4, in response to the increasing global demand for vehicle trade.
This development adds 13,000 car equivalent units (CEUs) to the port’s capacity, bringing the total storage potential to 75,000 CEUs. This initiative further solidifies Dubai’s status as a leading automotive trading center in the region.
Additionally, the expansion includes an 800-metre quay that can accommodate three roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels simultaneously.
The RoRo services have been transitioned from Terminal 1 to the newly designated Terminal 4 area, a strategy intended to enhance berth availability, minimize turnaround times, and free up operational space throughout the port.
“Dubai is enhancing its position as a global automotive trading hub, and this expansion enables car manufacturers, dealers, and logistics companies to access crucial markets in the Middle East, Africa, and beyond more quickly and reliably,” remarked Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and MD of DP World GCC.

“This investment is designed with our customers in mind. Increased yard capacity, faster service, and dependable berth availability are all set to support the growth of the automotive supply chain,” added Shahab Al Jassmi, SVP, Commercial, Ports and Terminals, DP World GCC.
Vehicle Volume Growth at DP World’s Jebel Ali Port
This announcement comes on the heels of a notable surge in vehicle handling at Jebel Ali, with the port processing 545,000 vehicles during the first half of 2025. This reflects a 28 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year. Imports constituted 65 percent of the total volume, with vehicles primarily sourced from China, Japan, Thailand, India, and South Korea.
The terminal enhancement is part of DP World’s larger automotive vision, which also includes plans for a state-of-the-art 20 million square foot car market in Dubai.
Once completed, this facility is set to be the largest of its kind in the world. Both initiatives are aligned with the emirate’s D33 agenda, which aims to double the size of the economy by 2033 and strengthen its position as a global smart logistics center.
