Dubai Airport Sees 46 Million Passengers in the First Half of 2025

Dubai International Airport (DXB) experienced its highest-ever traffic for the first half of a year, welcoming 46 million travelers during the initial six months of 2025, which represents a 2.3% increase compared to the previous year.

This growth was achieved in spite of temporary disruptions to regional airspace in May and June, illustrating DXB’s capability to adapt and its essential role in maintaining global connectivity.

In the second quarter alone, the airport served 22.5 million passengers, marking a 3.1% increase from the same timeframe a year earlier.

April stood out as the busiest month of the quarter, setting a record for the month with 8 million travelers.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, remarked, “The sustained growth of DXB amidst regional challenges demonstrates the resilience of Dubai and the UAE, the adaptability of our operations, and the dedication of our airport community.”

He also mentioned that the airport anticipates annual traffic to reach 96 million this year, approaching the notable milestone of 100 million.

The average monthly traffic during the first half was around 7.7 million, with daily traffic averaging 254,000. January was particularly busy, achieving a record with 8.5 million travelers.

Highlights from DXB’s First Half

During the initial six months of the year, DXB facilitated a total of 222,000 flights and attained a load factor of 76%. Furthermore, the airport processed 41.8 million bags, with 91% of them delivered within 45 minutes of arrival.

The rate of mishandled baggage remained low, with only 2 bags per 1,000 travelers, significantly lower than the 2024 industry average of 6.3 reported by SITA. It is expected that the airport will manage over 85 million bags by the end of the year.

Efficiency at key passenger checkpoints remained high, with 99.2% of travelers passing through departure passport control in under 10 minutes, 98.4% clearing arrivals in under 15 minutes, and 98.7% going through security checks in under five minutes.

India Remains the Largest Market for DXB

In the first half, India continued to be the largest source market for DXB, with 5.9 million travelers, followed by Saudi Arabia (3.6 million), the United Kingdom (3 million), Pakistan (2.1 million), and the United States (1.6 million).

London emerged as the top city destination, accommodating 1.8 million passengers. Following London were Riyadh (1.5 million), Mumbai (1.2 million), Jeddah and New Delhi (1.1 million each), and Istanbul (982,000).

During the first half of 2025, DXB processed slightly over one million tonnes of cargo, reflecting a slight year-on-year increase of 0.1%. The airport maintains connections to over 269 destinations across more than 107 countries, operated by over 92 international airlines.

As the latter half of the year begins, DXB anticipates an increase in travel activity, including a peak in late summer and a vibrant winter season, highlighted by major events such as the Dubai Airshow 2025.
