The ARIIS system utilizes LiDAR sensors, lasers, and 3D cameras to conduct autonomous inspections of railway tracks and essential infrastructure elements without interrupting metro services. This project underlines Dubai Metro’s dedication to enhancing safety, operational effectiveness, and dependability through advanced technologies.
“Dubai takes pride in its leadership in smart solutions that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the Metro,” remarked Abdul Mohsin Kalbat, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency. “The launch of ARIIS marks a significant advancement in the upkeep of one of the safest and most advanced public transport systems globally.”
A Revolutionary Development in Rail Infrastructure
David Franks, Managing Director of Keolis MHI, referred to ARIIS as a “groundbreaking achievement,” noting that it transforms maintenance operations by improving safety, facilitating data-driven decisions, and increasing operational efficiency.
Loic Ayoul, CEO of FMT, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with RTA and Keolis MHI, stating: “We are thrilled to assist in the realization of ARIIS. This AI-enhanced solution significantly boosts the performance, safety, and sustainability of the railway infrastructure for Dubai Metro.”
In addition to its advanced technical features, ARIIS complements Dubai’s Smart City initiative, fosters sustainable infrastructure development, and showcases a commitment to utilizing innovative technologies to elevate the quality of life for both residents and visitors.
Notable advantages of ARIIS implementation:
- Improved safety: Decreases manual inspections by up to 70% and enhances infrastructure evaluation capabilities by 40%.
- Greater efficiency: Automates the inspection process, reducing time by about 75%—from 2,400 man-hours to merely 700.
- Proactive maintenance: Facilitates forward-thinking strategies that can prolong the lifespan of infrastructure and cut lifecycle maintenance expenses by as much as 25%.
- Intelligent decision-making: Real-time data analytics enhance resource efficiency by 40% and diminish unnecessary interventions.
With the integration of ARIIS, Dubai Metro continues to establish new benchmarks in urban transport innovation, further solidifying the city’s status as a global center for smart mobility.
