Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a series of immediate enhancements designed to alleviate traffic issues from Ras Al Khor to the Al Meydan Street Interchange. The key upgrade includes expanding the right-turn lane from two to three lanes to increase its capacity.
The project, expected to be completed by August 10, will significantly enhance traffic movement between the Ras Al Khor Industrial Area and Nad Al Sheba. It aims to facilitate access for vehicles heading towards the Al Meydan Street Interchange and surrounding neighborhoods, according to a report by the Dubai Media Office.

By increasing the number of lanes, the RTA will boost the road’s capacity from 1,800 vehicles per hour to 2,700, a 30 percent increase. This advance is expected to mitigate traffic delays and shorten waiting times at the intersection during busy hours. Motorists traveling to Business Bay, Ghadeer Al Tair, Al Quoz, Al Safa, and nearby areas will particularly benefit from this change.
Part of a comprehensive strategic plan
The RTA stated that this initiative is part of an ongoing strategic framework aimed at improving Dubai’s transportation infrastructure. Roads selected for enhancements are analyzed based on four primary data sources: traffic assessments, insights from control centers, community feedback, and real-time observations by RTA’s operational teams.
This undertaking supports the RTA’s broader objectives of optimizing network efficiency, reducing travel duration, easing congestion, and enhancing road safety.
“These improvements demonstrate our dedication to adapting to Dubai’s swift urban growth and increasing population,” the RTA emphasized in its statement. “Through continuous investment in intelligent road infrastructure, we strive to enhance the overall mobility experience for everyone using our roads.”
