Dubai’s Tourism Surges with 94% of Travelers Expressing High Satisfaction, According to KPMG Data

Visitors to Dubai are enjoying significant satisfaction levels, contributing to the growth of the hospitality sector in the emirate, according to a recent industry report.

The government’s initiatives to enhance the city’s tourism offerings are broadening the array of experiences available to travelers, including cultural, adventure, business, and culinary wellness trips. This diversification is playing a pivotal role in increasing visitor satisfaction, as highlighted in the latest hospitality analysis by KPMG.

“Investments in infrastructure and technology are positively shaping guest experiences, resulting in heightened satisfaction levels among visitors this year,” the report noted.

Excellence in Dubai’s Hospitality

The report indicated that an impressive 94% of guests were satisfied with their hotel accommodations in Dubai over the last year, a rise from 92% the previous year.

Additionally, it revealed that 80% of visitors are likely to choose a hotel stay in the city, indicating strong demand within this sector.

The hotel occupancy rate in Dubai also saw an increase, rising from 77.1% in 2023 to 77.7% the following year, with the Average Daily Rate (ADR) moving from AED 654.4 to AED 666.

Government strategies, such as the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aim to place Dubai among the top three global tourism destinations by 2033, according to KPMG.

A significant factor in boosting inbound tourism has been the extended tourist visa for Indian nationals, which made 70% of respondents more inclined to visit the UAE following this policy adaptation, as noted by the global consultancy.

Growing Interest in Hotel Stays

While luxury hotels have long been a mainstay of the UAE’s hospitality scene, KPMG’s findings show a rising interest in unique and personalized experiences that allow guests to engage with local culture.

Hotels are now offering specially designed experiences, including desert safaris, cultural excursions, and authentic dining options that highlight local cuisine and Emirati hospitality to cater to this craving.

The report also emphasized the changing demographics of travelers to Dubai, with visitors increasingly seeking eco-friendly, boutique experiences that offer a local touch.

Sidharth Mehta, Partner and Head of Real Estate and Construction at KPMG Lower Gulf, stated that Dubai is continuously redefining itself for global tourists.

“The UAE’s leadership has made substantial investments in tourism infrastructure, resulting in world-class airports, hotels, resorts, theme parks, and entertainment centers. This investment has provided a strong foundation for Dubai’s hospitality industry,” he remarked.

Mehta also noted, “We are seeing a trend towards more responsible, experience-oriented travel, where guests are looking for meaningful cultural interactions and sustainability-driven accommodations.”

KPMG’s report underlined the increasing importance of technological advancements within the hospitality sector, with 88% of survey participants identifying modern technology as a critical aspect of their hotel experience.

Looking ahead, the report predicted continued growth for Dubai’s hospitality industry, driven by favorable economic conditions, supportive government measures, and a strong real estate sector across both luxury and affordable housing. However, it emphasized that the sector must focus on innovation, sustainability, and the provision of unique experiences to remain competitive on a global scale.
