During the “Make it in the Emirates” forum, Alhinai noted that this aircraft represents a significant advancement toward the nation’s objectives for urban air mobility. Operations are slated to begin in Abu Dhabi prior to a complete commercial launch, as reported by WAM.

Recently, Archer inaugurated a manufacturing plant in Georgia, USA, which is initially expected to produce 650 aircraft annually, with aspirations to ramp up production to 2,400 units.

Midnight Aircraft: Functionality of This Air Taxi

Midnight, crafted for eco-friendly urban transportation, is designed to accommodate four passengers plus a pilot. It operates solely on electric power and is capable of vertical takeoff and landing, resembling a helicopter.

The aircraft’s design is specifically optimized for efficient travel over short distances.

Alhinai mentioned that the first test flights will occur in uninhabited regions, progressively extending into urban areas as part of a phased rollout. A formal launch date for commercial services has yet to be confirmed.

The timeline for the beginning of commercial operations will be revealed later, following the fulfillment of all required technical and operational standards.

Regarding its technical specifications, Alhinai highlighted that Midnight features a fixed wing and 12 electric motors—six positioned at the front and six at the rear. The front motors are capable of rotating from 0 to 90 degrees, facilitating a smooth transition from vertical ascent to horizontal flight in just 45 seconds.

Potential for Local Manufacturing in the UAE

On the subject of local production, Alhinai stated that the company has entered into a framework agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to set up a research center and assess manufacturing possibilities within the UAE. More information will be shared in the near future.
