Emirates NBD Records More Than Dhs5bn in Trades Following Year of No-Fee Local Equities Promotion

Emirates NBD, one of the prominent banking institutions in the MENA region and Türkiye, announced that customer transactions on its commission-free local equities platform have exceeded Dhs5 billion within the first year of operation.

This initiative, which was launched on August 26, 2024, enables investors to trade UAE-listed stocks without any commission fees through the bank’s digital wealth platform ENBD X.

Since its introduction, over 300,000 commission-free transactions have been conducted on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), and Nasdaq Dubai, giving customers access to more than 150 equities listed in the UAE.

The ENBD X mobile banking app combines banking, investment, and advisory services, featuring customizable price notifications, real-time trading capabilities, and fully digital onboarding processes.

Emirates NBD stated that this service is designed to improve access to financial markets, aligning with the UAE’s “We the UAE 2031” strategic plan aimed at enhancing capital markets and increasing financial inclusion.

Emirates NBD’s commission-free local equities initiative meets with strong success

Marwan Hadi, the group head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, expressed satisfaction with the positive response to the zero-transaction-fee trading initiative launched on their digital wealth platforms, accessible via ENBD X.

He remarked, “A year later, our customers have taken to purposeful investments in local equities. As a key national bank, we are proud to change the way individuals invest by offering a platform that is inclusive, accessible, transparent, and affordable, while also supporting local enterprises.”

He further stated that innovation continues to be a priority, with ongoing improvements to ENBD X and the introduction of new products to adapt to changing customer demands.

Additionally, last year, Emirates NBD introduced fractional bonds on ENBD X as part of its effort to enhance access to financial markets.
