The newly implemented biometric smart gates have been set up at the airline’s Airport Operations Centre, aiming to enhance immigration procedures through sophisticated facial recognition, AI-driven verification, and the integration of real-time data. This innovative technology offers a quicker, safer, and paperless process for crew members checking in for duty.
Simplifying travel via smart solutions
Thani Alzaffin, CEO of emaratech, stated that this collaboration represents a significant step in the modernization of border control systems.
“We take pride in collaborating with flydubai to create a pioneering, paperless immigration procedure for their crew members,” Alzaffin noted. “With AI-enhanced facial recognition, our smart gates work in harmony with flydubai’s and immigration’s systems, facilitating real-time validation and an effortlessly smooth journey.”
He further mentioned that this initiative aligns with emaratech’s broader vision to revolutionize border control by utilizing artificial intelligence to establish smarter, faster, and more secure checkpoints.
Enhancing growth and operational efficiency
Mohammed Hareb AlMheiri, flydubai’s Chief Procurement and Technology Officer, highlighted the crucial role of technology in facilitating operational advancements.
“We are excited to collaborate with emaratech to bring this cutting-edge solution to our pilots and cabin crew,” AlMheiri remarked. “As we continue to expand, we are eager to adopt technologies that enhance efficiency. These biometric smart gates symbolize another move toward seamless and secure operations as we future-proof our infrastructure.”
In total, six smart biometric gates have been established, granting crew members direct access to immigration clearance prior to their flight takeoffs.
Expanding network and workforce
This initiative is part of flydubai’s larger commitment to investing in technology that supports its frontline personnel and operational objectives. Currently, the airline operates across more than 135 destinations with a modern fleet of 89 aircraft and employs over 6,400 staff members, including more than 1,300 pilots and 2,500 cabin crew members.
