GE Aerospace Signs Five-Year Agreement for Digital Solutions with Royal Jordanian Airlines

A 41-year-old prisoner in Dubai has undergone significant medical treatment, including the provision of a custom-made prosthetic limb, after arriving at the detention facility in a deteriorated state.

The individual, who had previously lost his right foot, was dealing with ulcers and wounds from a prosthetic device that he had worn for over a decade. This outdated prosthetics did not fit his body or bone structure correctly, resulting in chronic pain, impaired mobility, and a drastic reduction in his overall health.

Major General Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, the Director-General of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, stated that the inmate was quickly referred to a specialist for necessary treatment. He received a “new, high-quality prosthetic limb, costing Dh87,133.”

To ensure the successful adaptation to his new prosthetic, the inmate has also been enrolled in a six-month physiotherapy program supervised by rehabilitation specialists. This program aims to aid him in regaining mobility and enhancing his quality of life while in the correctional facility.

Julfar further noted, “This assistance is part of a broader set of humanitarian initiatives carried out regularly to uphold the dignity of all detainees, regardless of gender, providing a correctional environment focused on health, psychological well-being, and social support. Human rights are a fundamental priority, irrespective of an inmate’s nationality or legal standing.
