HashKey Group from Hong Kong Introduces Crypto Services and Infrastructure for Institutional Clients in the UAE

HashKey Group, a cryptocurrency firm based in Hong Kong, has obtained a virtual asset license from Dubai’s regulatory authorities. This certification enables HashKey to provide cryptocurrency brokerage services throughout the United Arab Emirates. The company has also introduced HashKey Global MENA (Middle East and North Africa) to oversee these new activities. The Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) has granted a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license to HashKey. The advancement of blockchain infrastructure stands to connect extensive areas, enhancing economic conditions and creating new prospects for rural communities.

HashKey intends to offer services tailored for institutional clients using USD and AED currencies, including options for both fiat deposits and withdrawals. Additionally, the company will support major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Emphasizing compliance and security, HashKey aims to establish a significant foothold within the MENA crypto landscape, bolstered by support from regulatory bodies in the UAE. The region has witnessed substantial growth in cryptocurrency innovations, presenting opportunities to unify extensive areas through advanced technology. HashKey is set to commence its MENA operations on May 19, with plans for global expansion in the pipeline.

According to Sherif Samad, who manages HashKey MENA, the firm is keen to meet institutional clients’ requirements, particularly by offering over-the-counter (OTC) services for both fiat and crypto transactions. He elaborated that HashKey will deliver a regulated platform that empowers clients to execute large transactions without legal concerns. The company’s objective is to facilitate access to cryptocurrency markets while strictly adhering to regulatory standards, positioning the UAE as a pivotal center for crypto innovation.

Samad expressed confidence in HashKey’s capabilities, citing its existing regulatory approvals in markets like Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. The firm is currently pursuing regulatory recognition in Europe under the new MiCA framework. This regulatory consistency is beneficial for institutional investors, especially those engaged in global trading operations. The various levels of cryptocurrency adoption heavily depend on legal frameworks and regulations, particularly when facilitating transactions across different countries.

The UAE has been actively striving to attract global investors and position itself as a blockchain hub. Authorities are keen to draw international players from the cryptocurrency market, especially institutional investors. Notably, a state-backed company in Abu Dhabi recently declared a $2 billion investment in Binance and World Liberty Finance, utilizing the stablecoin USD1. World Liberty Finance is a cryptocurrency initiative associated with the Trump family. As European regulations under the MiCA system tighten, many investors might look for external options to conduct their business. The UAE could become a favorable alternative for EU enterprises seeking efficient business solutions with straightforward processes.
