Hiring Gets a Gaming Twist: Dubai’s Recruitment Platform Tackles Job Market Gaps

The groundbreaking recruitment platform ‘Dandelion Civilization’, introduced by entrepreneur Dmitry Zaytsev, is set to revolutionize hiring by enabling businesses to move past traditional résumés and AI assessments. The platform’s goal is to uncover genuine human talent, significantly improving hiring success rates by more than 40%. Additionally, it aims to assist candidates in better understanding themselves, enhancing their abilities, and ultimately securing more satisfying job opportunities.

Set to launch in Dubai next month, the startup hopes to capture a substantial portion of the projected $150 million market within the next two to three years. Currently, discussions are ongoing with prominent corporate groups in the finance and retail sectors to initiate pilot projects aimed at onboarding new employees and introducing their innovative hiring methodologies.

The platform is nearing the final stages of development for two interactive games: one is a psychological and competitive assessment game designed to evaluate personality types and competitive advantages, providing insights into candidates’ natural inclinations and decision-making processes. The other is called Hivecraft, a strategy game that helps users develop skills in strategic thinking and problem-solving.

Future ambitions include creating an open-world environment where candidates can interact, build their careers, and explore various employment options.

“While AI can process data, it often falters in interpreting human traits such as creativity, emotional intelligence, and judgement,” Zaytsev elaborated in a recent interview.

“We realized that incorporating gamification could fill this gap,” he remarked.

Having transitioned from an executive role to entrepreneurship and relocating from Moscow to Dubai, Zaytsev emphasizes that the future of recruitment transcends mere automation — it’s fundamentally about comprehending human nature.

Redefining Recruitment

According to Zaytsev, the current job market has become increasingly challenging for both job seekers and employers.

Many applicants encounter the frustrating experience of being ignored by companies after interviews or applications, often receiving no feedback or closure.

Conversely, companies are inundated with applications, making it difficult to pinpoint the right candidates amid the overwhelming responses.

“We aim to bridge this gap, and our solution is embedded in gamification,” he stated, sharing that Dandelion Civilization’s long-term vision is to support users throughout their lives, from education to career and beyond.

The platform is designed to feature a ‘digital avatar’ that evolves alongside the user, offering guidance and insights based on real-time data.

“Our aim is to create a virtual space that accurately reflects real-life career growth and personal development.”

Companies can also establish virtual hubs, provide job opportunities, and devise personalized development programs for their employees through this platform.

The startup is collaborating with leading universities and exploring partnerships with major firms in Dubai to develop assessment tools specifically for younger job seekers.

A proposed pilot program with a prominent university will incorporate an engaging gaming experience, expecting one in ten participants to receive job offers based on their performance.

Dandelion Civilization is also tailoring its platform for younger candidates, including school-aged children, through educational programs aimed at improving soft skills, often neglected in conventional education.

“Most academic institutions emphasize hard skills, but soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are increasingly vital in today’s job landscape,” Zaytsev pointed out.

Wide-ranging Industry Interest

Zaytsev mentioned that there is already significant interest from corporate clients across various sectors in Dubai and beyond, particularly in finance, development, and retail.

The highest demand is noted among large organizations facing difficulties with leadership delegation and employee career advancement.

“These companies are actively seeking strategies to facilitate internal career development, attract talent, and enhance workplace engagement — areas where our platform can provide substantial benefits,” he explained.

Zaytsev disclosed that discussions are currently underway with several firms regarding pilot initiatives and employee onboarding into their system, although he could not disclose specific names due to confidentiality agreements.

A vital aspect of the platform is to integrate corporate objectives directly into its gaming mechanics, fostering employee engagement while allowing companies to transparently monitor individual contributions, achievements, and bonus distributions.

“Our goal is to provide enhanced freedom and clarity in how individuals navigate their careers within organizations.”

In addition to corporate interests, educational institutions and universities are also demonstrating considerable interest.

“They are looking for methods to assist graduates in securing employment despite their limited experience and formal qualifications,” he said.

“Our gamified platform evaluates students’ soft skills like communication, creativity, and accountability, helping to position them as high-potential candidates,” he added.

The startup, which recently initiated its operations in Dubai to leverage the city’s innovation-friendly ecosystem, intends to further expand into the MENA region and India.

However, Zaytsev clarified that the venture is not seeking external investment this year.

“Current growth is supported through our internal revenue, with profits reinvested into product development,” he concluded.

The founder of Dandelion Civilization revealed that they are preparing to introduce an AI-driven educational platform focused on equipping users with practical skills applicable to real-world job scenarios.
