Dubai recently provided a forward-looking perspective at the Envision 2025 forum, hosted by du Tech. This premier technology event highlighted critical advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotics, and high-performance computing.

Under the theme “Alignment of Leadership and Technology is Key to AI Advancement”, the third installment of this annual gathering attracted government officials, international technology leaders, and innovators focused on the digital transformation of the UAE.

In his opening remarks, du CEO Fahad Al Hassawi emphasized Dubai’s ranked position among the top five global cities for AI integration, surpassing even San Francisco. “Technology alone is just code, while leadership standing alone is merely ambition,” he stated, echoing the event’s theme. “True innovation occurs when these two elements unite.”

Al Hassawi connected du’s strategies to the nation’s broader objectives, noting the predicted $320 billion contribution of AI to the UAE’s GDP by 2030. He depicted these figures as essential to future generations, reflecting the boldness of local enterprises, with 42% already implementing AI technologies.

Key Technological Foundations Presented at Envision

The forum highlighted five fundamental technology areas shaping the future: generative AI applications, sovereign cloud systems, advanced robotics for Industry 4.0, GPU-as-a-Service and Mining-as-a-Service designed for high-performance computing, and national hyperscaler cloud solutions.

These solutions were portrayed as vital enablers for various crucial sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, education, smart cities, and utilities.

Industry leaders contributed to the discussions; investor and entrepreneur Randi Zuckerberg addressed AI’s potential for creativity, while representatives from companies like Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, Huawei, Dell, Fortinet, Nokia, and Equinix underscored the importance of collaborations in driving transformation. Jasim Al Awadi, du’s Chief ICT Officer, referred to the platform as a means to foster “smarter, more sustainable communities aligned with the UAE’s aspirations.”

Al Hassawi encouraged attendees to view their roles not just as participants but as “agents of change.” He concluded by reminding them of the UAE’s tradition of innovation, from transforming deserts into urban centers to now shaping a digital future through intelligence and technology.

With policymakers, industry experts, and technologists united at the event, it reinforced du’s position as more than a telecommunications provider; it is also a digital enabler actively shaping the nation’s AI-driven economy.
