On Tuesday, Amazon unveiled an expansion of its rapid delivery service, Amazon Now, which enables customers in the UAE to receive everyday essentials in as little as 15 minutes. This enhancement comes as the company develops additional micro-fulfilment centres to reduce the distance between products and consumers.
This service is now accessible to all users of Amazon.ae and includes a wide selection of products, such as groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, electronics, and personal care items. Prime members are entitled to complimentary delivery for orders over Dhs 25.
According to the company, certain customers in designated locations have experienced deliveries in under six minutes.
“We are focused on elevating convenience with Amazon Now, our quickest delivery option available in the UAE,” stated Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. “All our innovations are driven by customer needs, and Amazon Now is tailored to accommodate their fast-paced lifestyles, providing essential items in just minutes.”
The initiative includes the placement of micro-fulfilment centres within local communities throughout the country to minimize delivery distances and alleviate traffic issues.
This service operates around the clock in prominent locations, including Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Business Bay, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and the central area of Abu Dhabi, among others.
Amazon introduces a two-hour delivery option
In addition to Amazon Now, the company has also rolled out a two-hour delivery service for a vast selection of items spanning over 30 categories, such as electronics, groceries, health products, and baby supplies.
Both delivery options are part of Amazon’s larger effort to enhance last-mile delivery speed and convenience for consumers in the UAE.
Prime members can benefit from free two-hour delivery on purchases exceeding Dhs 100 or opt to pay Dhs 3 for smaller orders. Amazon has noted a strong customer uptake, with daily order volumes increasing by over 40% month over month and Prime members doubling their shopping frequency after using Amazon Now.
<p“Customers gain additional value through exclusive discounts, quicker delivery, and further perks on top of the benefits they enjoy year-round,” Mouchawar added.
The newly developed micro-fulfilment infrastructure employs advanced inventory management and location-based logistics to predict local demand and enhance delivery routes.
The company emphasized that this initiative reflects its commitment to improve operational efficiency and sustainability by minimizing delivery distances and traffic congestion.
