Mubadala Purchases Equity in Loscam, Collaborating with Trustar Capital, FountainVest, and Sinotrans

Mubadala Investment Company, a prominent global investor based in Abu Dhabi, has successfully finalized its acquisition of a stake in Loscam International from Sinotrans, following the announcement made on June 26.

As a result of this transaction, both Mubadala and Trustar Capital now own a 30 percent stake in Loscam, while FountainVest and Sinotrans each maintain a 20 percent share.

This investment marks Mubadala’s inaugural co-control stake within Asia’s industrial sector, reflecting the increasing confidence global investors have in the region’s evolving supply chain dynamics.

All necessary closing conditions and regulatory approvals have been satisfied, as confirmed by the involved parties.

Loscam’s Extensive Operations in the APAC Region

With its headquarters in Hong Kong, Loscam operates in 13 regions across the Asia-Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and Greater China.

Founded in 1942, the company is a leading provider of sustainable and high-quality pooling and logistics solutions, catering to major clients in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods, retail, and manufacturing.

The global pallet market offers substantial growth prospects, enabling companies to enhance efficiency, lower costs, improve safety, and advance sustainability. Innovations in automation, data analytics, and material science are driving progress in pallet-based logistics.

Mubadala’s Investment: A New Chapter for Loscam

Li Shichu, Vice President, board secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer at Sinotrans, commented that Mubadala’s stake is indicative of “a new stage in the development of Loscam.”

He further stated, “The diversification of our shareholder base will provide the company with a broader international perspective, access to advanced capital networks, and a boost in innovative momentum. Sinotrans believes that this capital partnership will better enable Loscam to expand its global footprint and redefine collaboration in the logistics packaging equipment sector.”

Mohamed Albadr, who leads Mubadala’s operations in Asia, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Trustar Capital, FountainVest, and Sinotrans to facilitate Loscam’s next growth phase. He noted, “We perceive significant potential in Loscam, particularly in Greater China and Southeast Asia, where pallet pooling remains relatively unexplored. This investment is a testament to our long-term dedication to Asia and our intention to expand in high-confidence sectors with established local partners.”

Zouhir Regragui, head of Industries and Business Services at Mubadala, remarked, “Dynamic pallet pooling is essential in today’s logistics framework and has shown impressive resilience through various economic cycles. We have been observing Loscam for over five years and are excited to invest in a leading firm whose fundamentals align well with our strategic goals.”

Derek Wang, a partner at Trustar Capital, stated, “Mubadala’s engagement signifies an important milestone for Loscam’s sustained growth and transformation. The company is crucial in advancing the standardization and efficiency of logistics and supply chain infrastructure throughout the region. With Mubadala coming on board, we have strong confidence in Loscam’s future.”

Leon Xu, Managing Director of FountainVest, added, “We are pleased to have Mubadala join us and share our confidence in Loscam. We firmly believe in the company’s growth potential, especially in Greater China, where the palletization and rental markets are expanding. FountainVest is dedicated to working closely with the management team and shareholders to enhance the company’s global presence and its research and development efforts.”

Loscam CEO Sirin Limpaitoon proclaimed that the investment signifies “an exciting new chapter” for the business. “With the collective strength of Mubadala, Trustar Capital, FountainVest, and Sinotrans, we are well-positioned to further advance equipment pooling and supply chain innovations throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” he asserted.
