According to recent statistics, 562,632 individuals participated in prayers at the mosque, including 193,435 attending the Isha and Taraweeh prayers and 195,987 for Tahajjud, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Welcomes Millions
On the 27th night of Ramadan, the mosque was a gathering place for 72,533 worshippers, and 26,025 individuals performed Eid Al-Fitr prayers.
Throughout Ramadan, the mosque welcomed a total of 391,011 visitors, with an additional 122,819 guests during the Eid holiday.
Although Ramadan 1446 lasted only 29 days, attendance saw an increase of more than 10 percent compared to the previous year.
“Daily, the mosque welcomed around 11,240 visitors during Ramadan. In total, there were 289 guided tours attended by 4,270 visitors. Tourist agencies made 6,774 bookings for 128,361 visitors, while 75 official delegations accounted for 1,126 attendees,” the report stated.
In collaboration with Abu Dhabi TV, daily prayer sessions were broadcasted live, reaching millions globally.
Charitable Initiatives During Ramadan
The Centre made significant contributions, distributing over 2.6 million Iftar meals throughout the holy month.
The Our Fasting Guests initiative, organized by the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation in partnership with Erth Hotel, provided 2,625,568 Iftar meals.
These meals were distributed at various locations: 898,288 at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, 442,345 at Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Grand Mosque in Al Ain, 1,160,000 in Abu Dhabi’s labour communities, and 105,935 in different areas of the emirate.
Moreover, 19,000 Suhoor meals were given out during the last ten nights of Ramadan for worshippers attending night prayers at the mosque.
Ramadan Market and Events
Visitors enjoyed the Ramadan ambiance at the Dome of Peace and Souq Al Jami’, which featured shops, restaurants, and outdoor stalls.
The Ramadan Market boasted 22 kiosks located in the mosque’s northern and southern courtyards.
The Centre launched over 11 initiatives reflecting its cultural and religious objectives, including four Ramadan lectures hosted at the Mohammed bin Zayed Majlis.
In partnership with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Zakat Fund, the Centre organized 18 lectures presented by scholars visiting the UAE President.
The Jusoor (Bridges) program produced 13 episodes featuring over 1,200 participants, including representatives from 13 embassies, a variety of organizations, and mosque personnel, who gathered for volunteer efforts and shared Iftar.
The Centre’s media impact was noteworthy, generating more than 100 pieces of media coverage shared by over 700 local, regional, and global media outlets, with the mosque being featured in over 3,600 news articles, reports, and social media mentions.
More than 580 volunteers contributed to the mosque’s operations, including personnel from Emirates Red Crescent, the Absher Ya Watan team, Ma’an Volunteer Group, police officers, paramedics, civil defense staff, parking attendants, and Saeed traffic systems operators.
The Centre also provided support at Sheikh Khalifa Grand Mosque in Al Ain (290,331 worshippers), Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah (122,347 worshippers), and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Grand Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah (39,783 worshippers).
