The Qiddiya Investment Company has announced the awarding of a construction contract valued at SAR5.25 billion (approximately $1.4 billion) to Nesma & Partners for the establishment of the Qiddiya City Performing Arts Centre, a prominent cultural initiative within Saudi Arabia’s forthcoming entertainment and creativity destination, Qiddiya City.

Nestled against the scenic Tuwaiq Mountains, this performing arts facility will include three theatres that collectively accommodate over 3,000 guests, featuring a unique 500-seat suspended theatre and a cantilevered amphitheatre that offers views of Qiddiya City’s lower plateau.

Upon its completion, the centre is projected to host more than 200 performances each year, encompassing genres such as theatre, music, digital art, and international spectacles.

Envisioned by Tom Wiscombe Architecture and complemented by design consultancy from Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf, this project marks the first cultural asset in Qiddiya City.

The centre aims to serve as a focal point for Saudi creativity and artistic expression, in line with the kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives, which seek to enhance leisure, tourism, and cultural initiatives.

The performing arts centre enhances Qiddiya City’s impressive collection of developments

This new performing arts centre joins the expanding portfolio of major projects within Qiddiya City, which also includes the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, Six Flags Qiddiya, Aquarabia Water Park, a Motorsport Track, and an Esports Arena.

Together, these ventures are firmly establishing Qiddiya City as a future leading center for entertainment and the creative economy in the Middle East.

Located approximately 40 minutes from Riyadh, Qiddiya City is expected to draw over 40 million visitors each year and house around half a million residents.

The city will feature a wide array of attractions and experiences, including an international centre for gaming and esports, golf courses, a motorsport hub, and what will be the largest water park in the region.

The Qiddiya Investment Company has stated that this development is integral to its larger mission of supporting Saudi Arabia’s socio-economic objectives under Vision 2030, aiming to be a platform for innovation and collaboration across the realms of sports, entertainment, and culture.
