The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has urged all school bus operators within the emirate to prepare for the upcoming 2025–2026 academic year. With a vision to become “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility,” the RTA is advocating for high service standards to ensure the safety and security of students across all age groups.
Health and safety are core components of RTA’s Back-to-School initiative. As part of this strategy, the authority is conducting thorough inspections to verify that school bus operators and educational institutions comply with all transport regulations and safety protocols.

“RTA considers raising awareness about health and safety as crucial elements of the Back-to-School programme,” the authority commented in an official statement.
The inspections are carried out by specialized teams from the RTA, which actively oversee the compliance of transportation providers with Dubai’s school transportation laws.
Strict adherence to safety protocols and student protection
All school bus drivers have been mandated to stringently follow traffic regulations, particularly in school zones and residential areas. Operators are also reminded to avoid blocking other vehicles, which aids in reducing traffic congestion and enhancing road safety.
“Drivers should not impede the passage of other vehicles, thus contributing to less congestion and promoting smooth traffic flow at all times,” the RTA stated.
Transport operators are encouraged to implement thorough training programs for their drivers and bus attendants. These training sessions focus on fostering safe and professional interactions with students throughout their commutes. Drivers have been reminded of their commitment to maintain the highest safety standards consistently.
Additionally, school administrations must ensure that bus attendants accompany students to and from the nearest drop-off points, reinforcing a secure and efficient travel process.
Use of technology and parental communication
The RTA has stressed the necessity of equipping school buses with cutting-edge safety technologies. Furthermore, operators are encouraged to maintain open communication with parents to ease their concerns regarding their children’s safety.
“Operators conduct driver training under the supervision of RTA and are dedicated to installing essential safety features on buses,” the authority conveyed. “They also keep regular contact with parents to confirm the safety of their children during their daily rides.”
RTA reiterated its commitment to enhancing the school transportation network throughout Dubai, highlighting its crucial role in supporting educational institutions as well as the overall mobility goals of the city.

MBRHE and Dubai Police launch an engaging Back-to-School campaign
In a related effort, the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE), in collaboration with Dubai Police, initiated a festive “Back to School” campaign in the Muhaisnah region on August 18, marking the commencement of the academic year.
This initiative is part of a broader series of community engagement efforts aimed at fostering a positive and secure educational environment, according to a WAM report.
Among the highlights of the event were the Dubai Police mascots, Officer Mansour and Officer Amna, who entertained the students and enhanced the event’s atmosphere. A special display of luxury patrol vehicles from Dubai Police also intrigued children and parents, combining entertainment with crucial safety education.
“The campaign involved participation from Dubai Police mascots… promoting security awareness among students and their families in a fun yet safe manner,” WAM reported.
