The city of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been officially designated as the venue for Expo 2030. This decision follows the final endorsement of the registration dossier by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) during its General Assembly held in Paris.
This endorsement signifies the conclusion of the selection process, firmly establishing Riyadh as the host for the upcoming World Expo.
During a formal ceremony, the World Expo flag was presented to the Saudi delegation by representatives of the BIE.
The delegation was headed by Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sultan, the Minister of State and Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), alongside Fahd bin Mayouf Al-Ruwaili, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to France, and other senior officials.
Al-Sultan emphasized that the swift approval of the registration dossier showcases the kingdom’s global leadership and reflects the international community’s trust in Saudi Arabia’s vision and abilities. He also noted the exceptional professionalism of the teams involved in preparing the documents.
Blueprint for Expo 2030 Riyadh
The registration dossier serves as a comprehensive blueprint for the expo, displaying Saudi Arabia’s dedication to creating a global platform that promotes innovation, international collaboration, and sustainable development. According to the RCRC, Riyadh is the first host city to finalize and submit its dossier in almost half the usual time required.
The approval facilitates the next steps in the planning process, which will include inviting international participants through diplomatic means.
Expo 2030 Riyadh is scheduled to run from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, on an expansive site covering six million square meters, designed to welcome over 40 million visitors.
Organizers expect participation from more than 195 countries, backed by state-of-the-art infrastructure, hospitality services, and transportation systems.
The venue is being developed to ensure an engaging and seamless experience for attendees, aligning with the overarching goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Promoted as one of the largest and most ambitious expos ever, Expo 2030 Riyadh aspires to enhance global dialogue, stimulate innovation, and encourage cultural interactions, while creating a lasting impact that extends well beyond the borders of the kingdom.
