The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has launched an array of significant mobility projects, including important road changes and improved public transportation options, as part of its continuous efforts to develop the city’s transportation framework and enhance the commuting experience for both residents and visitors.

The RTA has revealed new traffic diversions to support the construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, a pivotal initiative that is set to transform the city’s public transport system.
An update from the RTA’s official X account indicates that the entry from Ras Al Khor Road to International City 1 has been closed. To alleviate traffic congestion, an alternative entrance has been created along with a new access route leading into International City 1.
The Blue Line, which stretches 30 kilometers and includes 14 new stations, is expected to greatly improve connectivity across nine major areas, projected to house over one million residents by 2040, in accordance with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
Revamping mobility in Dubai
The metro line will comprise two key routes. The first will cover 21 kilometers from Creek Interchange Station through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, and ultimately reaching Academic City, featuring 10 stations, including one underground interchange stop.
The second route will span 9 kilometers from Centrepoint Interchange Station in Al Rashidiya to International City 1, going through Mirdif and Al Warqa, and will include four stations. Additionally, a new metro depot will be set up at Al Ruwayah 3, facilitating effective operations and maintenance.
These developments aim to enhance last-mile connectivity and align with the emirate’s objective of providing sustainable, integrated, and eco-friendly transport options.
RTA reinstates bus services to Global Village
<pAlongside these infrastructure enhancements, the RTA has resumed its dedicated bus services to Global Village for its 30th season, operating from October 15, 2025, to May 10, 2026.
This initiative offers guests a premium, comfortable travel option to one of Dubai’s top leisure attractions. It includes four direct bus routes and the continuation of the electric tourist abra service within Global Village.
The four bus routes are as follows:
- Route 102: Al Rashidiya Bus Station – Global Village (every 60 minutes)
- Route 103: Union Bus Station – Global Village (every 40 minutes)
- Route 104: Al Ghubaiba Bus Station – Global Village (every 60 minutes)
- Route 106: Mall of the Emirates Bus Station – Global Village (every 60 minutes)
The luxury buses provided for these services come with high-end amenities, improved safety features, and aim to create a family-friendly experience.
Electric abras enrich the visitor experience
In addition to the bus routes, the RTA is also reintroducing electric tourist abras at Global Village, allowing visitors to enjoy leisurely rides along the internal waterways and explore the venue throughout the 2025–2026 season.
