On Wednesday, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who leads the Dubai Health Board, officially launched the Dubai Health Center for Innovation and Technology. This new facility aims to integrate clinical expertise, research, and technology to enhance healthcare services.
The official opening occurred during a meeting of the Dubai Health Board, which was presided over by Sheikh Ahmed and attended by key members including Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Abdulla Abdul Rahman Al Shaibani, Professor Sir Ian Andrew Greer, Walid Saeed Al Awadhi, Mohammed Hassan Al Shehhi, and Dr. Amer Sharif, the CEO of Dubai Health.
Sheikh Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, the director general of the Dubai Health Authority, for his vital role in establishing the foundation for the emirate’s first academic health system.
New Center at Dubai Health Serves as a Strategic Hub
Sheikh Ahmed highlighted, “We are making consistent progress towards a future where innovation and advanced technology form the backbone of healthcare delivery. The Center for Innovation and Technology at Dubai Health acts as a strategic hub, consolidating expertise, talent, and innovative ideas to create solutions that significantly impact people’s health.”
He also recognized Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg and Dr. Amina Al Rostamani for their efforts in founding the center.
The center, which has been funded with Dhs10 million from the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation and the AW Rostamani Group through the Al Jalila Foundation, was launched in conjunction with WHX Tech 2025, an international health technology exhibition taking place in Dubai. This event will feature announcements of new partnerships with organizations such as Dubai Future Foundation, Siemens Healthineers, and Huawei.
The center includes laboratories specializing in extended reality, brain interfaces, robotics, sensors, artificial intelligence, and user experience. Additionally, it boasts a Technology Transfer Office dedicated to supporting intellectual property and cultivating partnerships.
Dr. Yacine Hadjiat, the center’s director, stated that the facility is intended “to encourage innovative thinking, promote collaboration, and speed up discoveries that ultimately benefit patients and enhance their quality of life.”
