Tesla Issues Recall for More Than 63,000 Cybertrucks Due to Lighting Flaw, Deploys Software Update

Tesla announced on Thursday that it is recalling 63,619 Cybertrucks due to a software issue that causes the front parking lights to shine too brightly, which could hinder the vision of oncoming drivers.

The company stated that an over-the-air software patch has been deployed to rectify the problem at no cost for Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and October 11, 2025.

The automaker, led by Elon Musk, discovered the issue during an internal assessment earlier this month, with photometric tests confirming the excessive lighting.

Tesla also noted that it has not received any reports of accidents, injuries, or fatalities associated with this issue.

In addition, on Wednesday, the electric vehicle manufacturer recalled 12,963 Model 3 and Model Y cars due to a defect in the battery pack component that could lead to a loss of propulsion, heightening the risk of accidents.

Earlier this month, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced it was initiating an investigation into 2.88 million Tesla vehicles equipped with the Full Self-Driving system, following over 50 reports of traffic safety violations and several accidents.

Tesla reported record revenue for the third quarter on Wednesday, surpassing Wall Street forecasts, propelled by the highest quarterly EV sales as U.S. consumers hurried to secure a crucial tax credit before its expiration last month.

However, the company’s profits fell short of analysts’ predictions, partly due to tariff and research expenses, as well as a decline in income from regulatory credits expected to diminish further with new legislation enacted during the Trump administration.

Tesla’s stock was down 3.3 percent in pre-market trading, although it has risen nearly 9 percent this year.
