U.S. military forces conducted strikes on Iran’s primary nuclear facilities overnight, as confirmed by President Donald Trump.
He cautioned Iran that further military action would ensue unless a peaceful resolution is reached.
“The operations were an extraordinary success,” Trump declared during a televised address from the Oval Office.
“Iran’s essential nuclear enrichment sites have been entirely devastated.”
He remarked, “Should peace not be established swiftly, we will target additional sites with precision and efficiency.”
As reported by CBS News, the U.S. took a diplomatic step towards Iran on Saturday, indicating there were no further assaults planned and that Washington is not pursuing a change of government in Tehran.
Trump identified the specific nuclear sites as Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow.
In an interview with Fox News, he explained that six bunker-busting bombs were deployed on Fordow, while 30 Tomahawk missiles struck the other two locations.
A complete assessment of the damage at the sites may take several days or longer due to their fortified nature.
In Tehran, an Iranian official, speaking to the Tasnim news agency, confirmed that “enemy airstrikes” had targeted portions of the Fordow facility.
Hassan Abedini, the deputy political head of Iran’s state media, stated that authorities had removed materials from the nuclear sites prior to the attacks.
“The enriched uranium stocks had been relocated from the nuclear facilities, and no materials remain that could cause radioactive contamination or harm to the population,” he informed the news outlet.
