The United Arab Emirates has lifted its travel restrictions on Lebanon, permitting Emirati citizens to travel to the country as of May 7.

This decision comes in the wake of a visit from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the UAE, intended to enhance the ties between the two nations.

Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, praised the UAE’s decision, calling it “a reflection of the strong fraternal bonds that exist between our two countries.”

He conveyed Lebanon’s sincere gratitude towards the UAE and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing hope for the return of Emirati and other Gulf and Arab tourists.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement in support of the UAE’s decision, highlighting its importance in light of President Aoun’s recent visit.

The ministry acknowledged that this development would promote bilateral relations and benefit both nations, reiterating a commitment to enhance connections with all Arab countries grounded in shared history and culture.

During President Aoun’s trip, both countries agreed to ease travel processes and adopt measures for improved mobility between them.

The removal of the travel ban represents a notable advancement in the normalization of relations between the UAE and Lebanon.

Travel Registration Required for Visiting Lebanon

In line with the reopening, Emirati citizens planning to visit Lebanon must register through the UAE’s ‘Twajudi’ service, an online platform designed to ensure the safety and accountability of citizens traveling abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Emirati nationals must complete this registration process before exiting UAE borders.

Travelers are required to provide their intended local address in Lebanon, valid emergency contact details, and the purpose of their visit.

It is essential to keep all provided information current, and any changes to accommodation during their stay must be reported via the platform.

Non-compliance with these requirements may lead to penalties.

The UAE’s decision to remove the travel restrictions is anticipated to enhance tourism and strengthen economic and cultural connections between the two nations.
