UAE-US Business Discussion Emphasizes Key Partnerships in Energy, Technology, and Manufacturing

Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and US President Donald Trump engaged in the UAE-US Business Dialogue on Friday, taking place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, as detailed by Gulf News.

The event highlighted both current and future partnership opportunities between the two countries across a diverse range of shared interests. It also revisited progress made under the substantial USD 1.4 trillion investment initiative in the United States, which was announced in Washington earlier this year and involves Emirati investment firms targeting strategic industries such as energy, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and manufacturing.

This dialogue was part of President Trump’s state visit to the UAE that started on Thursday, aiming to strengthen economic and investment ties between the two nations, promoting economic growth, job creation, and innovation, according to Gulf News.

Gulf News also mentioned that various new agreements were introduced during the session, covering vital sectors like energy, healthcare, aviation, manufacturing, AI, advanced technology, entertainment, sports, and tourism.

In the energy realm, significant agreements were established to attract up to USD 60 billion in American investments for energy projects in the UAE. These included ADNOC’s strategic development plan with ExxonMobil to boost output capacity at the Upper Zakum offshore field, an agreement with Occidental aimed at exploring potential capacity enhancements at the Shah Gas field, and a new concession granted to EOG Resources for unconventional oil and gas exploration in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, XRG entered a framework agreement with Occidental’s subsidiary 1PointFive to explore a major investment in a direct air capture facility in Texas, and both parties agreed to launch a strategic partnership in the energy domain, as per the Gulf News report.

In the realms of technology and innovation, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) disclosed a partnership with Qualcomm to establish an advanced global engineering center in Abu Dhabi, focused on next-generation IoT, AI, and data center solutions. This center will become Qualcomm’s latest global engineering facility and is expected to support strategic initiatives in the emirate via collaborations with local and international enterprises based in Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to enhance the UAE’s global engineering capabilities by delivering customized products and services across key sectors including energy, manufacturing, logistics, retail, and smart mobility.

On the manufacturing front, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced advancements in its endeavor to create the first new primary aluminium production facility in the US since 1980, with plans for a USD 4 billion investment. Additionally, EGA signed an agreement with the Tawazun Council and RTX to assess possibilities for developing gallium production capacities in Abu Dhabi, as reported by Gulf News.
