96% of Court Hearings in Dubai Were Conducted Remotely in 2024

Recent statistics released by Dubai Courts indicate that an impressive 96% of court sessions last year were conducted remotely, highlighting a significant shift towards electronic litigation systems as part of the ongoing digital transformation and the establishment of digital justice principles.

According to the data presented in the report titled “Leadership and Competitiveness in Judicial Services” from Dubai Courts, a total of 21,091 out of 21,992 organized sessions by the courts and judicial bodies in Dubai during 2024 took place online. This reflects a major increase in the adoption of video conferencing technology across various judicial sessions.

The report noted that six out of nine courts in Dubai held all of their sessions remotely, while five out of ten judicial bodies conducted 100% of their sessions through digital platforms, showcasing the rapid integration within the smart litigation framework.

Furthermore, the report highlighted a transformative shift in the judicial system of the emirate towards remote litigation models, aligning with the latest technological advancements and global standards. This shift has accelerated processes, reduced waiting times, enhanced judicial performance efficiency, and promoted transparency and accuracy in the administration of justice.

The report emphasized that remote litigation services are among the most crucial offerings by the courts, facilitating the litigation process and shortening the journey for litigants by implementing modern visual technologies. Various initiatives fall under this service, including remote hearings and case preparation.

In related findings, the report stated that the total number of completed smart requests in Dubai Courts during 2024 reached 1,518,620. The Execution Court topped the list with 1,274,029 completed requests, followed by the Primary Commercial Court with 60,945 requests, and the Inheritance Court with 38,186.
