His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Batti Al Hamed, Head of the National Media Office and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, conducted a visit to the Republic of Rwanda where he met with several Rwandan ministers and senior officials. During these meetings, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation, particularly in the media sector, as well as exploring broader opportunities for collaboration in sustainable development.
In a meeting with His Excellency James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Regional Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides discussed the prospects for collaboration across various sectors, stressing the importance of media as a means to support bilateral relations and solidify the strategic partnership that serves mutual interests and enhances the regional and international presence of both nations.
Furthermore, His Excellency met with His Excellency Jean-Damascène Bizimana, Minister of National Unity and Civic Engagement, where they discussed cooperation opportunities in national identity and community engagement, emphasizing the role of media as a key partner in fostering a cohesive and interactive society capable of tackling challenges and shaping the future.
In related discussions, His Excellency engaged with Dr. Doris Bikar Ouyekiza, Director General of the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), and Mr. Clovis Barori, Director General of the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), along with Yolande Makolo, Government Spokesperson. They reviewed ways to enhance collaboration in media and broadcasting, including the exchange of institutional and technical expertise.
The meetings also addressed the upcoming “Bridge” Summit scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi this December, discussing its key themes and highlighting its role as a platform for international dialogue, with emphasis on its contribution to advancing media cooperation and responding to global transformations.
His Excellency concluded the visit with a field tour of Irembo’s headquarters, a company focusing on technology solutions and digital governance in Rwanda, where he was welcomed by Mr. Benbi, the company’s CEO.
During the visit, His Excellency learned about Irembo’s advanced initiatives in digitizing government services and streamlining administrative processes through its diverse platforms, alongside its efforts in digital identity, artificial intelligence, and telemedicine. He also received a detailed presentation on the company’s contributions to enhancing transparency and reducing bureaucracy, and its role in supporting a cashless economy while facilitating citizens’ access to various services.
His Excellency Abdullah Al Hamed emphasized that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is committed to strengthening its relationships and expanding cooperation with countries worldwide, particularly those in Africa. This commitment stems from a strong belief in the importance of international partnerships in promoting stability and development.
He stated: “This visit represents a new step in our fruitful cooperation with Rwanda, paving the way for broader opportunities to build joint projects that empower communities to achieve their aspirations and actively participate in shaping a better future for generations to come.”
