In an evening filled with a sense of belonging to the essence of poetry and its beauty, the Poetry Nights gathering took place as part of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language. The event featured a poetic session titled “Hand in Hand,” where His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Advisory Council of Sharjah, participated, while Saeed Hamdan Al Taniqi, the Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, moderated the discussion.
Al Nuaimi began his speech by praising the national initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which declares 2025 as the Year of the Community under the slogan “Hand in Hand.”
He emphasized the significance of this slogan, stating that it reflects a profound humanity that resonates with the unique character of Emirati society. He noted, “Our society today, having witnessed significant development over the past fifty years, requires greater awareness to embrace rapid changes and to renew the meanings of solidarity and understanding to reinforce our national identity that is open to others.”
Al Nuaimi further added that the UAE community, which has reached unprecedented heights in various fields, needs to unite its efforts and visions, armed with a spirit of tolerance and a deep understanding of itself and others.
Before an enthusiastic audience of folk poetry enthusiasts, Al Nuaimi recited several of his touching poems that combined strong text with delicate meaning, beginning with the poem that shared the title of the evening:
Hand in hand forever, each of us has pledged
To our land of peace, its home has granted us honor and glory.
During the session, Al Nuaimi addressed various issues, ranging from national values to the journey of humanity through the universe, love, and fear, concluding with the figure of Avicenna as a symbol of knowledge and humanity.
