Abu Dhabi Book Fair: Intellectual Property Fosters Cultural Creativity

The 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair serves as a significant platform to highlight the essential role of intellectual property and copyright in safeguarding creativity and fostering cultural production.

Mujd Al Shehhi, Director of the Emirates Copyright Management Association, stated that the association’s participation in the book fair aligns with its vision to promote a culture of respect for authors and creators, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of protecting copyright within society.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, she noted that the fair provides an ideal opportunity to engage with the public, especially publishers, authors, creative professionals, and those working in the fields of publishing, education, and libraries, to emphasize the significance of intellectual property rights in supporting artistic and cultural creativity.

She reaffirmed that this event embodies the spirit of innovation and creativity in the UAE, and the association is committed to participating in it to reinforce a culture of respect for intellectual property rights and to support creators and authors who enrich the cultural landscape with their works.

Additionally, the association has conducted numerous specialized workshops and awareness materials, along with open meetings to educate visitors about their rights and responsibilities in both digital and traditional publishing environments.

She pointed to the growing interest among diverse community segments in copyright and creativity, evidenced by the positive interactions and significant attendance at the association’s booth, which encourages the continuation of the association’s programs and awareness initiatives, as well as ongoing efforts to cultivate an informed and cultural environment that supports creativity and protects authors’ rights.

The Emirates Copyright Management Association is committed to enhancing the cultural scene in the country and supporting national efforts to build creative generations that will continue the journey of progress and excellence.
