Ahmed Bin Mohammed Meets the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Commends His Efforts in Promoting the Message of Tolerance and Human Coexistence

During the Arab Media Summit, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, met today (Tuesday) with His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyib, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders.

During their meeting, His Highness warmly welcomed Dr. Al-Tayyib, wishing him continued health and well-being. He expressed profound appreciation for the efforts of Dr. Al-Tayyib and the pivotal role of Al-Azhar in promoting a message of tolerance and human coexistence, enhancing a culture of respect for others, and presenting the true image of Islam, which encompasses values of goodness, coexistence, and unity.

The meeting, which was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, and Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to establishing shared human values and its ongoing efforts to deepen a culture of coexistence and civil dialogue, thereby reinforcing the foundations of peace, understanding, and rapprochement on a global scale.

The discussion also underscored the significance of media in instilling authentic Islamic and Arab values and principles while combating phenomena aimed at undermining the youth of the nation, which call for the dismantling of core values. Given the media’s powerful influence on societies, there is a pressing need to prepare media professionals who can confront such calls and negative phenomena, which places a significant responsibility on the media.

In response, His Eminence the Grand Imam commended the leading role of the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in the Arab and international arenas. He noted the country’s contributions to the service of Islam and its support for peace and development in the region and globally, in a manner that prioritizes human values and seeks to achieve the well-being of individuals.

His Eminence also acknowledged the UAE’s commitment to issues concerning the Islamic nation, in line with its historical stances supporting its brothers, particularly in the Palestinian cause and its assistance to the Palestinian people across various levels.

Attendees at the meeting included His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Batti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and the Board Chairman of the Emirates Media Council, and Her Excellency Mona Ghanem AlMarri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, as well as President of the Dubai Press Club and Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Arab Media Summit.
