The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) yesterday, carrying a team of four individuals, including a Russian astronaut, on a mission expected to last approximately six months, which includes a special project involving Armenian pomegranates.
SpaceX announced on its social media that “the docking has been confirmed,” and shared a video depicting the capsule’s arrival at the ISS, positioned high above the southeastern Pacific Ocean.
The astronauts on board are Americans Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, who launched on Friday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida atop a Falcon 9 rocket.
The Crew-11 mission also includes Armenian pomegranates aimed at comparing them with similar ones left on Earth, with the goal of studying the effects of microgravity on crop growth.
