The British government has announced plans to establish at least six new factories dedicated to the production of weapons and explosives as part of a comprehensive review of its defense capabilities.
This investment, valued at £1.5 billion (approximately $2.0 billion), will be incorporated into the strategic defense review, which outlines a ten-year plan for military equipment and services. The strategic defense review is expected to be released on Monday.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defense aims to purchase up to 7,000 long-range weapons manufactured in the UK. This initiative is projected to create around 1,800 job opportunities.
Defense Secretary John Healy stated, “The lessons learned from President Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine demonstrate that military strength is only as robust as the industry that supports it.
