Brown Rice Is “Essential” and Not “Dangerous

A recent American study has highlighted the significance of brown rice in our diets, asserting that it is just as crucial as other grains. Despite containing higher levels of arsenic compared to white rice, the researchers argue that these levels do not pose a health risk when consumed in moderation.

The study found that while arsenic is classified as a carcinogenic substance, its presence in our diet at limited amounts does not represent a real threat to health. This aligns with the toxicology principle that suggests “the dose makes the poison.”

Researchers pointed out that arsenic is naturally occurring in soil and water, which means it can be found in various foods, including rice. They emphasized that the levels of arsenic found in brown rice remain below those considered dangerous for human consumption. What truly matters is the quantity consumed and the frequency of consumption, rather than the mere presence of the substance.
