The Community Development Authority in Dubai, in collaboration with the Sheikha Meitha bint Rashid Al Maktoum Center for People of Determination, organized a series of professional development workshops for both males and females during the second day of the International Expo for People of Determination. This initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship and empower individuals with disabilities to become self-reliant, thereby reducing their need for external assistance.
The workshops for females included hands-on training in decoupage techniques, allowing participants to creatively decorate bags with artistic flair that showcases their taste and creativity. Meanwhile, the sessions for males concentrated on sewing skills, enhancing their craftsmanship and preparing them for future production projects.
Dr. Sheikha Al Mansouri, Head of the Community Integration Department at the Community Development Authority, stated that these workshops are part of the agency’s programs designed to empower People of Determination both professionally and socially, providing them with new opportunities to engage in independent productive activities that build their confidence and promote their integration into society.
Al Mansouri expressed, “Through our partnerships with specialized centers like the Sheikha Meitha Center for People of Determination, we are committed to developing participants’ skills and honing their abilities in various crafts and artistic fields. This enables them to turn their passions into small entrepreneurial projects that provide sustainable income and equitable opportunities for community engagement.”
