The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has officially opened two new marine transport stations: the Old Dubai Market Station and the Al Seef Station. These facilities are part of the marine transport network in the Dubai Creek area and represent the final phase of the Creek Station development initiative, which is part of the RTA’s comprehensive plan to enhance marine transport services.
The inauguration of these stations marks a significant advancement for the marine transport sector in Dubai. Their completion aligns with the RTA’s strategic framework for marine transport from 2020 to 2030, aimed at improving the marine transportation infrastructure, which is a vital mode of transport in the emirate. In the first half of 2025, the total number of users across all marine transport means reached 9.7 million passengers.
The final phase of the project underwent extensive renovations, similar to those conducted for the Bur Dubai Station and the Old Deira Market Station in the previous phase. The development was designed to maintain the historical identity of the area, provide customer service facilities, expand shaded waiting areas, and create investment zones for abra users.
The developmental plan for this phase included a 50% increase in the shaded waiting area, as well as the addition of investment spaces. It also addressed accessibility needs by implementing the Dubai Code for People of Determination and enhancing the lighting and docking areas with environmentally friendly materials. Additionally, a cooled lounge for the drivers of traditional wooden abras was constructed. This initiative aims to improve comfort and enhance the work environment for the drivers, thereby supporting their operational efficiency.
