A series of workshops under the program “Forecasting Aid” concluded in Abu Dhabi, organized by the International Humanitarian Affairs Council with the supervision of the Development Affairs Office of the Presidential Administration.
This initiative has greatly enhanced participants’ knowledge and equipped them with essential skills to implement humanitarian and developmental projects in a more sustainable and impactful manner, ultimately aiming to improve the living conditions of numerous underprivileged communities and millions of individuals globally.
The program focused on four fundamental pillars related to education, capacity building, experience sharing, and strategic communication. Several strategic themes were discussed, covering areas such as innovation and leadership, governmental innovation, data analysis in humanitarian and developmental aid, development in Africa, East Asia, and Latin America, partnerships and resources, climate and health diplomacy, innovative financing, and the impact of geopolitical changes on foreign aid.
The objective was to enhance the UAE’s foreign aid framework and strengthen the efforts of humanitarian donors and charities in planning diverse humanitarian and developmental programs, implementing best international practices to maximize sustainable humanitarian impact.
Global experts who contributed to the “Forecasting Aid” program emphasized its significance in bolstering the leading humanitarian and developmental efforts of the UAE across various continents.
Bart Fontaine, a consultant in development and humanitarian aid at the Haven Foundation, highlighted how the program shapes the future of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts by equipping Emirati leadership with the necessary tools and skills for agile response planning based on proactive foresight and leadership.
He pointed out the insights gained and innovative approaches included in the specialized workshops, which will solidify the UAE’s status as a regional and international leader in foreign aid, capable of adapting to swift geopolitical changes and conditions.
Active Participation
Beatrice Noval, a consultant in global governance, regional integration, and foreign affairs, noted the program’s diverse content that enhances the UAE’s capacity for more effective participation in relief responses for regions affected by crises and disasters, as well as achieving a broader impact on community development and strengthening essential service sectors.
This is achieved through the use of advanced humanitarian and developmental strategies, leveraging knowledge expertise and enriching international collaboration to design humanitarian programs and implement developmental projects, thereby contributing to innovative and sustainable solutions to current global challenges related to humanitarian and developmental work.
