Dubai Health Authority Opens Happiness Council and Special Care Unit at Thalassemia Center

The Dubai Health Authority has unveiled a Happiness Council and a Special Care Unit at its Thalassemia Center, supported by DP World. This initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to enhance human health, coinciding with World Thalassemia Day, celebrated on May 8 each year. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of the Dubai Health Authority, alongside Dr. Amer Alzarouni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation.

Also present were Dr. Abdullah Alkhayat, CEO of Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, and Ayoub Mulla, CEO of Operations at We One. From DP World, attendees included Nabil Qaid, Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Marwan Al Jassmi, Senior Vice President of Employee Relations, Alia Al Janahi, Vice President of Health, Safety, and Environment, and Jill Lambert, Vice President of Corporate Communications.

The Happiness Council and Special Care Unit at the Thalassemia Center have been refurbished with the generous support of DP World through the Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Dubai Health Authority. The center, which has been operational for 30 years, provides annual treatment services to approximately 8,872 patients, including citizens and residents of various age groups.

Abdullah bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World for the GCC region, stated, “This collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority in renewing the Happiness Council and Special Care Unit reflects our commitment to enhancing the therapeutic experience for patients.” Dr. Amer Sharif emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships as a fundamental pillar for achieving the desired transformation in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Amer Alzarouni expressed gratitude towards DP World for their generous support that made the refurbishment of the Happiness Council and Special Care Unit at the Thalassemia Center possible.
