Indicators from the Summer Courses Program organized by the Dubai Police General Headquarters, represented by the International Protection Center, since 2022 have revealed an increase in the sense of commitment, discipline, and positive behavior in schools, accompanied by a 90% decrease in negative behaviors such as leakage and bullying.
This was announced during a press conference held at the Dubai Police Officers Club to launch the 2025 Summer Student Program, under the patronage of His Excellency Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, under the slogan “Our Summer is Safe and Happy.. Innovation and Leadership”. It will kick off on June 30 and will last for a month, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, as well as several external entities, in addition to a wide student participation including various nationalities and ages.
The 2025 summer course program targets about 1300 students aged 11-18, starting at the end of June with a new package of educational programs that have been adopted based on studies on the most prevalent crimes and issues. It will include a focus on cybercrimes, prevention of drug abuse, and behavioral issues such as bullying, as well as linking field visits to the training content received by the participants.
Engineer Tariq Al Hashimi, Assistant Undersecretary for School Operations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates at the Ministry of Education, emphasized the importance of the program, which has contributed to reducing some negative behaviors by over 90%. He noted that students who joined the program showed discipline, commitment to positive behavior, compliance with instructions, and guidance in educational institutions.
Major Dr. Expert Mohammed Issa Al Athba, Director of the Al Khayal Police Center and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Police Centers, highlighted the continuous interest of the Dubai Police General Command in supporting and organizing summer programs and activities for school students at the end of the academic year. This is to invest students’ time, deepen their sense of national identity, respect systems and laws, instill loyalty to wise leadership, and prepare a generation of young people with a high level of awareness and culture about the importance of problems, risks, and how to deal with them professionally and responsibly to avoid falling into them and subjecting them to legal accountability.
16 Training Centers
The summer courses for this year will be distributed among 16 training centers, including Hamdan Bin Rashid School for Boys’ Secondary Education, Zayed Educational Complex in Aweer, Zayed Educational Complex in Warqa, Hatta School 1 for Basic Education, Zayed Educational Complex in Al Barsha North, Zayed Educational Complex in Al Barsha South, Asma Bint Al Nu’man Model School, Rashid Bin Saeed School for Basic and Secondary Education in Hatta, as well as specialized centers in the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Investigation, Al Khayal Police Center, and 901 Communication Center, the General Directorate of Entities and Facilities Security and Emergencies, the General Directorate of Transport and Rescue, and the Security Inspection Administration K9 “Police Dogs”.
Activities and Programs
The activities and programs for this year include 13 training programs, such as the prospective investigator and diving course, swimming, military training, sports training, future officer, 901 Unified Call Center, police dog course, cycling, horse care course, K9 Police Dog Care and Incentive Program, in addition to awareness lectures and field visits.
Brigadier Khaled bin Muwaih, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Drug Control, stated that building the student’s character requires the combined efforts of all institutions based on scientific principles capable of creating a new generation of students who will carry the banner of leadership in all government and private institutions, in addition to applying a scientific methodology in implementing various summer programs that instill in students many noble concepts and values.
Brigadier Dr. Abdul Rahman Sharaf Al Muaamari, Director of the International Protection Center at the Dubai Police General Command, discussed the efforts of the International Protection Center over the past 3 years.
The number of beneficiaries from the educational programs and summer courses executed by the center for government and private school students throughout the year reached 375,741 students from 175 nationalities, benefiting from 505 educational programs implemented during the same period.
