Dubai Police Surprises Shop Owner by Capturing Thieves Who Took From Him “Unbeknownst

The Rifah Police Center in Dubai surprised a shop owner by arresting a gang that had stolen medical products from a warehouse associated with his store over multiple incidents, all without his knowledge. The total value of the stolen items amounted to 123,000 dirhams.

In discussing the revelation of the crime, Brigadier Khalid Al Ghaffli, the Acting Director of the Rifah Police Center, stated that the discovery was the result of efforts by the Information and Security Teams at the center in collaboration with investigation officers. He explained that the Information and Security Teams were established to identify security gaps, gather intelligence, counter negative trends in the area, and enhance safety, public trust in the police, and crime reduction efforts. The uncovering of this crime reflects their ongoing commitment.

He highlighted that since the launch of the Information and Security Teams in 2023, they have achieved several significant milestones within the jurisdiction of the Rifah Police Center, including receiving 1,333 security tips, making 738 arrests for various cases, and earning 27 commendations from both local and international bodies for their efforts in crime prevention and addressing negative social issues.

Suspicious Activity Reveals the Crime

Detailing the case, Major Ali Al Awar, Head of the General Duty Department at the Rifah Police Center and responsible for the Information and Security Teams, noted that while conducting their duties in collaboration with the investigative unit, team members observed a group of suspicious individuals and acted by stopping and checking them.

He mentioned that the team saw these individuals in possession of medical products and tablets in a manner that raised suspicion. Upon questioning, they confessed that they had stolen the items from a medical product warehouse in multiple incidents, unnoticed by anyone.

Shop Owner Unaware

Major Al Awar confirmed that the Information and Security Teams met with the shop owner, who was unaware of the thefts that had occurred. He noted that none of the employees had knowledge of the multiple thefts. The owner later conducted an inventory of the stolen medical supplies and found that the total value of the thefts reached 123,000 dirhams.

Additionally, Major Al Awar pointed out that by reviewing surveillance footage from the warehouse, the perpetrators were clearly identified as they committed the thefts, leading to appropriate legal actions against them.
