Education: Three Reasons for Withholding Certificates and No Compensatory Exams for Those Absent from Resits

The Ministry of Education has announced that students may not receive their final certificates for the 2024-2025 academic year if they have unpaid financial obligations, fail to return their school laptop, or do not update the required personal information in the electronic system. These factors are among the primary obstacles preventing students from obtaining their final certificates. The ministry encourages schools to advise parents to regularly monitor their children’s academic and administrative status to ensure that all requirements are met for certificate issuance without complications.

Additionally, the ministry clarified that the retake examinations for students in grades 3 to 12, held after the school year, will focus solely on the third semester curriculum. There is no cap on the number of subjects a student can retake, even if it involves all subjects.

The ministry cautioned that missing retake exams, even for valid reasons, does not entitle students to an alternative assessment opportunity. Students must ensure their attendance according to the approved schedule.

In a guidance message from schools to parents, it was stated that remote testing is generally not permitted, including for temporary illnesses within the country, which do not constitute a valid reason for remote testing. In such cases, schools will coordinate to form a committee under medical supervision to facilitate the student’s attendance for the exam in person.

Only exceptions to this policy are cases approved by the relevant medical committee in the sector, where a student is demonstrably unable to attend for health reasons that pose verified risks to their well-being or to the exam committee members, based on a certified medical report.

School administrations stressed that travel for tourism or family vacations does not qualify as a valid reason for remote testing, and such excuses are not officially recognized. All students and parents are urged to adhere to the established guidelines and regulations to ensure the continuity of the educational process and achieve the best possible academic outcomes.
