Emirates Energy Award: A Global Platform to Honor Excellence and Innovation

The UAE Energy Award, organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, serves as a premier global platform for acknowledging excellence in clean energy and sustainability. In its fifth edition, the award continues to strengthen its reputation both locally and internationally through its diverse categories that promote innovation and support the transition to a green economy and sustainable development.

This year’s theme, “Enhancing Carbon Neutrality,” encompasses ten categories that address various aspects of sustainability and renewable energy. These categories include energy efficiency in the public sector, energy efficiency in the private sector, large-scale energy projects, small-scale energy initiatives, the circular economy, large solar energy projects (distributed generation of 500 kilowatts or more), small solar energy projects (distributed generation below 500 kilowatts), education and capacity building, research and development, and energy for young talents.

The award’s categories are noted for their diversity and integration, covering various dimensions of innovation, from technological and engineering solutions to educational and community contributions. This allows both institutions and individuals from various sectors to submit their projects and initiatives within a clear framework that considers environmental impact, economic efficiency, and long-term social benefits.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the UAE Energy Award, stated: “In line with Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy aiming to source 100% of the emirate’s energy from clean sources by 2050, the award seeks to raise environmental awareness and encourage participation from institutions, businesses, and individuals in both the public and private sectors, as well as academia, acknowledging their pivotal role in addressing the effects of climate change and global warming.

It also motivates them to present their ideas and innovations to develop practical solutions in this area.”

He added: “This world-class award exemplifies the UAE’s leadership in driving the global transition toward clean energy, embodying the vision of wise leadership in building a sustainable economy based on innovation and knowledge, while solidifying the UAE’s role as a global hub for advanced solutions in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The diversity of the award’s categories reflects our commitment to enable all parties to actively participate and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.”

Ahmed Baty Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Vice Chairman of the award’s Executive Committee, noted that the design of the award categories considers significant transformations in sustainability concepts, particularly with the emergence of the circular economy as a key focus in resource management.

He stated: “The award presents a comprehensive model for fostering excellence in energy sectors through a precise evaluation methodology focusing on technical feasibility, environmental impact, and added value at both local and international levels.”
