JR West, the operator of the shinkansen (bullet trains) in western and southwestern Japan, has announced the suspension of train services on Sunday due to heavy rainfall.
According to Kyodo News, train operations on the Sanyo Shinkansen line between Hiroshima and Hakata were cancelled after services were halted at 1:30 PM local time. Additionally, trains between Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima experienced delays.
Continued heavy rain in Fukuoka Prefecture in southwestern Japan, as well as in Yamaguchi Prefecture, has prompted meteorological authorities to issue warnings about potential landslides and flooding.
