A tremor measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale has struck the Indonesian island of Sumbawa today.
According to Indonesia’s meteorological, climatological, and geophysical agency, the epicenter of the quake was located to the south of the island at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Currently, there have been no reports of damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake.
Indonesia frequently experiences seismic activity, being located on the Pacific Ring of Fire; this region is known for its convergence of tectonic plates, resulting in regular volcanic and earthquake activity.
