Islamic Affairs: Achieving Zakat Services in Just 5 Minutes

Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Derei, the head of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, has announced that 4,000 zakat collection devices have been activated through partnerships with collection companies. Additionally, there are 10,000 bank ATMs that now offer zakat payment services via bank accounts.

He highlighted that the advanced electronic service system introduced by the Authority has significantly streamlined and accelerated the provision of zakat services, leading to an increase in customer satisfaction. Currently, the average time to complete zakat services has been reduced to just 5 minutes.

Dr. Al-Derei encouraged all contributors to take advantage of the electronic services offered by the Authority, which facilitate easy and hassle-free payment of zakat. There are five different services available that allow individuals to easily fulfill their zakat obligations.

During a recent session of the Federal National Council, he noted that the Authority has been focused on enhancing zakat services through applications, devices, and government digital platforms. More than 800 devices have been activated in partnership with telecommunications companies to assist in zakat payments, and the service is integrated into various banking applications. Furthermore, zakat payments are now accessible via four different government digital platforms, including the “Tam” platform and the “Dubai Now” platform.

Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Derei also mentioned that the recent updates in the zakat service system in the UAE have played a crucial role in improving service quality and enhancing the Authority’s efforts to implement best practices in the collection of zakat funds. This focus on customer satisfaction has resulted in a 93% happiness rating among zakat payers and a 90% satisfaction rate among zakat beneficiaries.

To date, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat has received over 133,000 transactions through its various official communication channels.
