Reports emerged today suggesting that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant believes that the brother of the late Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, was likely killed in an attack in the Gaza Strip a few days ago.
According to the news outlet “Ynet,” Gallant stated during a committee meeting, “While there is no official confirmation as of now, all signs point to the elimination of Mohammad Sinwar.”
Mohammad Sinwar is the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, who is regarded as the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel and was killed by the Israeli military in Gaza last October.
Following the death of Mohammad Deif in July, Mohammad Sinwar took over the leadership of Hamas’s military wing.
In the aftermath of an Israeli strike on a hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, last Tuesday, Israeli media reported that the operation targeted Mohammad Sinwar; however, officials declined to comment on the matter.
Hospital reports indicated that several individuals lost their lives in the assault.
An additional news report confirmed that Mohammad Sinwar’s body was found in a tunnel in Khan Younis. When questioned about this development early Sunday, the Israeli military was unable to provide a confirmation.
