Leading Institutions Shaping the Future of Health Innovation at the Sharjah Forum

On the second day of the Sharjah Global Forum titled “The Future Station: Healthcare,” held at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, various health institutions showcased groundbreaking initiatives and innovative health programs. These efforts aim to shape the future of healthcare innovation in Sharjah through collaborative efforts to create intelligent systems that redefine healthcare both regionally and globally.

Dr. Amina Al Jasmi, a radiology consultant and head of the Radiology Department at the Emirates Health Services, announced the launch of a smart early detection project for breast cancer. This innovative initiative focuses on enhancing early detection of breast cancer in women aged 30 and above and utilizes a mobile smart device employing advanced elasticity imaging technology to assess breast tissue elasticity.

The device quickly and accurately identifies any abnormal changes and boasts several key features: it is non-invasive, completely safe, and assists healthcare professionals in detecting conditions early, facilitating prompt referrals for further tests such as mammograms or MRI scans.

Radiology technician Azhar Al Zaabi highlighted that the project relies on a portable device utilizing elastography technology, which measures the elasticity of breast tissues to uncover any natural changes. This device also supports the early detection program for breast cancer.

Khadija Adel Al Khouri, a psychologist at Al Amal Hospital, introduced the synthetic memories project in the UAE. She explained that this initiative aims to stimulate meaningful memories in the elderly by using traditional prompts such as songs, pictures, and objects along with artificial intelligence imagery to encourage them to share their life stories.

Jawaher Al Hamadi, a marketing specialist from The Big Heart Foundation, noted the organization’s exemplary model of humanitarian work. Since its inception, the foundation has positively impacted the lives of over six million people through more than 230 humanitarian and developmental projects in 37 countries.

The foundation’s mission focuses on advocating for and safeguarding the rights of children and vulnerable families while improving their lives worldwide, with a specific emphasis on the Arab region, through humanitarian and developmental support efforts.
