The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is launching an innovative series of workshops and discussions targeted at the community as part of its “Life Schools” project. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s strategy for enhancing quality of life.
A total of 38 interactive workshops and sessions will be organized, covering a variety of topics aimed at equipping visitors of Dubai’s public libraries, the Union Museum, Dhakher Club, and the Sharjah Heritage Museum with essential life and creative skills. Participants will be encouraged to celebrate community values and traditions, enjoy folkloric tales, and preserve the national identity for future generations.
In May 2025, “Life Schools” will celebrate “Community Year” through its creative and educational pathways, as well as innovative clubs. It will also support the “Heritage of Dubai” initiative, which aims to revive Dubai’s historical memory by documenting and preserving narratives and lived experiences that illustrate the city’s evolution and the lives of its residents over the years.
In this context, the Union Museum will host a TEDx conference focused on “Emirati Identity”, aiming to inspire youth to actively participate in shaping the Emirati identity. This will be achieved by integrating authentic Emirati values into education, art, and media, while also highlighting the importance of the Arabic language in preserving heritage and linking local practices with innovative and sustainable projects.
Children visiting Umm Suqeim Library will take part in the “Young Reporter… Community Values” workshop, which introduces the fundamentals of journalism, storytelling, and report preparation, enhancing their critical thinking skills.
Additionally, the “Puppet Show… Reviving Emirati Folklore” at Al Rashidiya Library will allow visitors to explore local folktales. Dhakher Club will also host the “Generations Forum… Youth Dialogues”.
As part of the “Art Club” activities, visitors to Al Safa Arts and Design Library will engage in a session titled “Memory Features… Collage Journey”. Meanwhile, Hatta Public Library will welcome artist Magdi Kafrawi for an interactive workshop on the impact of black and white.
Al Safa Arts and Design Library will open its doors to book enthusiasts and members of the “Story Club” for a discussion on the novel “Diving” by author Reem Basyouni. Furthermore, Hatta Public Library will organize a “Making Jam” session as part of the Health and Nutrition Club activities. A variety of other important events are also scheduled.
