After announcing his recognition of the State of Palestine, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the United Nations General Assembly, stating, “We have adopted a credible plan to end the war in Gaza and uphold the two-state solution—Israel and Palestine—which will facilitate the release of all hostages and reduce human casualties.”
Macron emphasized that “security and stability for Israel cannot be achieved while a war continues with its neighbors,” as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth on Wednesday.
Earlier, Macron indicated that Gaza “requires more than just a military solution,” insisting that the focus should be on the “future of the region.”
During a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly, Macron remarked, “No one forgets October 7,” referencing the attack by Hamas on Israel in 2023 that resulted in French casualties, according to CNN.
He continued, “But after nearly two years of conflict, what is the outcome? Once again, we are eliminating high-ranking Hamas leaders, which is a significant achievement. However, we still have the same number of Hamas fighters as we did on day one, thus dismantling Hamas proves to be futile.
